An image display device with an infrared sensor and a control method thereof are provided to make a range for sensing access of a user by a depressed shape, thereby improving incorrect action due to not intentional motion. A guide unit of a predetermined range senses user access. An infrared light emitting diode(10) is formed in an inner side of the guide unit. The infrared light emitting diode generates an infrared signal. An infrared light receiving unit(20) outputs a user sensing signal according to whether to receive light of an infrared signal. A controller recognizes whether a user accesses based on a user sensing signal outputted through the infrared light receiving unit. |
