The present invention relates to a method for preparing a monofluoromethyl ether, mainly fluoromethyl 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl ether, i.e., Sevoflurano, wherein the hexafluoroisopropanol is used as a reactant which reacts with an organo-bromo compound and subsequently with triethylamine trihydrofluoride.
