<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the control apparatus of a power transmission apparatus for a vehicle for suitably suppressing rotational change affecting durability of a motor when a shift position in a direction opposite to a vehicle traveling direction is selected. <P>SOLUTION: In an automatic transmission part 20, a shift operation for establishing a transmission gear ratio for making a vehicle travel in a direction opposite to a vehicle traveling direction at the point of time is performed, and when the vehicle speed is equal to or more than a predetermined prescribed operating vehicle speed, first inhibit control for suppressing shift to a prescribed transmission gear ratio in the automatic transmission part 20 and second inhibit control for suppressing shift to the prescribed transmission gear ratio in the automatic transmission part 20 by a means different from the first inhibit control can be executed respectively.
