A fastening device (10) for engagement with a channel portion (1) having a base member (2), and first and second side members (3, 3') extending from respective edge regions of the base member to form a substantially U-shaped cross section, and having first and second retaining members (5, 5') which extend from free edge regions of the first and second side members respectively towards the other of the side members thereby defining an entry region (6) having the fastening device comprising a body (12) having a width less than the width of the entry region of such a channel portion, and having opposing engagement surfaces (14, 14') spaced apart, thereby enabling fractional engagement of the engagement surfaces with opposing inner surfaces of such a channel portion and substantially preventing linear movement of the fastening device within such a channel portion.
