PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method of lumber which enables the attainment of the lumber having a high mechanical strength and high safety and durability, by simple processes. SOLUTION: The processing method of the lumber includes a compression process (S12) wherein a lumber strip 10 cut out of raw lumber and having a flat grain surface or a comb grain surface on the top and the underside is subjected to pressing simultaneously in the vertical direction by a pair of dies, on the whole of the top and the underside of the lumber strip. The method includes an impregnation process (S14) wherein the lumber strip compressed in the compression process (S12) is immersed in a solution of an inorganic processing agent for shape stabilization, and a drying process (S16) wherein the lumber strip 10 impregnated with the processing agent solution in the impregnation process (S14) is dried for solidification.
