<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device capable of displaying subtitles which are easy for a viewer to see by displaying images corresponding to cast names in the subtitles. <P>SOLUTION: It is decided whether subtitles include specific characters indicating a cast name; when the specific characters are included, a character string containing the specific characters is acquired as a specific character string, an image for subtitles is acquired from video of a different scene displayed corresponding to the subtitles including the specific character string, and an image for subtitles acquired for each content identified with identification information and the specific character string are related to each other and registered. Consequently, identification information of a content being reproduced at present matches registered identification information, and when subtitles includes the specific character string, replacement with an image for subtitles related to the specific character string is carried out to perform special subtitle display including the replacing image for subtitles. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
