PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of discharging a liquid material which enables the stable application of a nearly constant amount of the liquid material in the form of droplets in each film formation area on a substrate, a method of manufacturing a color filter, and a method of manufacturing an organic EL element using the discharging method. SOLUTION: The method of discharging a liquid material has the discharging process of carrying out twice or more of scanning procedures consisting of moving two or more nozzles 52 and the substrate relatively and discharging, in the form of droplets D, the liquid material from the nozzles 52 into film formation areas 3r<SB>1</SB>, 3r<SB>2</SB>and 3r<SB>3</SB>arranged on the substrate. In the discharging process, the combination of selected patterns for the nozzles 52 discharging droplets D in the scanning procedures is the same in the film formation areas 3r<SB>1</SB>, 3r<SB>2</SB>and 3r<SB>3</SB>.
