The method involves determining deviation of an actual value of an evaluation parameter of a spectacle lens on an evaluation point from a local reference value. A local estimation is made for the evaluation point depending on the deviation according to an evaluation scheme. Another local estimation is made for the evaluation point depending on the deviation according to another evaluation scheme, where the deviation is determined for the evaluation point that is allocated to one of classification regions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for characterization of a spectacle lens (2) a computer program product with a program code for performing a method for characterization of a spectacle lens.
