PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp socket capable of reducing necessary operating force, and to provide a luminaire that uses the lamp socket. SOLUTION: When the socket body 9 is rotated with respect to a support body 10, the inner circumferential surface of an inner side contact part of one conductive plate 12 slides on the outer circumferential surface of a core wire 51 of a coaxial cable 50, and the outer circumferential surface of an outer side contact part 55 of the other conductive plate 12 slides on the inner circumferential surface of a braided wire side contact 52. That is, electrical connection between the coaxial cable 50 and the respective conductive plates 12 can be maintained. As a result of this, since the coaxial cable 50 will not be twisted, returning force due to the elasticity of the coaxial cable 50 is not applied on the socket body 9; and accordingly, since a structure for holding the socket body 9 at a predetermined rotational position is not required, even if the structure is provided, holding force can be reduced, the operating force necessary for rotating the socket body 9 to the support body 10 can be reduced.
