The invention relates to a method for bending a workpiece, in which (a) the workpiece (1) is engaged in a retained manner in a holding device (7, 8), (b) the workpiece (1) is clamped, by means of frictional engagement, between bending jaws (11, 12) in a bending section (3, 4) that projects from the holding device (7, 8) in the longitudinal direction, (c) the workpiece (1) is bent by rotating the bending jaws (11, 12) comprising the clamped bending section (3, 4) relative to the holding device (7, 8) from a first bending jaw position into a second bending jaw position, (d) at least a predominant portion of the bending force that causes the workpiece (1) to be bent being introduced into the bending section (3, 4) by means of a frictional force acting during the frictional engagement. |
