PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of times of operations when a user selects a desired file (image data) to simplify user operation in an image processing apparatus having an operating portion with only character display function without graphic display function. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a means for acquiring a folder and file information in a memory media mounted on the image processing apparatus, a means for determining the key allocation and the order of pressing the keys for selecting folders and files in the memory media based on the acquired information, a means for appending information indicative the allocation and the order to an image showing content information on the memory media to output it on a predetermined form, and a means for detecting an input of a key corresponding to the allocation and the order to select a corresponding folder and file.
