PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load-bearing type expansion device with excellent load-bearing capacity and durability strength, which is suitable for a huge road bridge. SOLUTION: This load-bearing type expansion device comprises rising face plates (5a) and (5b) and rising partition plates (17a) and (17b), which are elongated in parallel with an expansion gap (S) in between, and a large number of continuous rising finger plates (Fa) and (Fb) which are elongated in the direction of a bridge axis through the face plates in front side positions. Rear plate pieces (18a) and (18b) of the finger plates, which are fixed to the partition plates, and one continuous piece of the elongated plate anchors (21a) and (21b) integrally overhang backward in the state of at least alternately thinning out the finger plates from the partition plates. Right and left mutual spacings (W1) between the adjacent plate anchors are widely secured in such a manner that "the dimensions of a spacing" between joint bar anchors (29a) and (29b) driven into a floor slab (1) are set at at least 4/3 times of the maximum dimensions of coarse aggregate for post-cast concrete (Ca) and (Cb).
