PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of accurately measuring a temperature profile in a tube bundle reactor. SOLUTION: The tube bundle reactor comprises a bundle of reaction tube filled up with catalyst and having both ends which are fixed to end plates 3, 4, a medium 10 flowing around the tube during operation, a shell 5 surrounding the tube bundle and a reaction tube are arranged in fluid communication, a gas inlet head 6 being laid across one end plate and the reaction tube are arranged in fluid communication, a gas outlet head 7 being laid across the other tube end plate and also at least one stage thermometer 9 installed in a thermometer tube 2 arranged in the tube bundle. In the tube bundle reactor for endothermic or exothermic gas phase reaction, at least one stage thermometer 9 is able to move in the thermometer tube 2 in an axial direction and the tube bundle reactor 1 includes a mechanical centering means 8 so as to perform an axial motion of the stage thermometer 9.
