<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which enables the best use of the catalyst effective for purification of exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a catalyst support comprises causing an ultra-fine alumina hydrate of particle sizes of ≤0.1 μm and a specific surface area of ≥100 m<SP>2</SP>/g to be adsorbed chemically onto the surface of raw nucleus particles and then similarly causing one or more of simple substances and/or compounds of Ag, Pt, Rh, Pd and Au, which serves as a catalyst ingredient for purification of exhaust gas, to be adsorbed chemically onto the surface of the raw nucleus particles in order to manufacture a catalyst support. Utilizing the fact that solid particles produced by a liquid-phase reaction carry out chemical adsorption on raw nucleus particles present in the same system, the manufacturing method enables an enhancement of the catalytic effect by manufacturing a catalyst support in the order of nm, or 10<SP>-9</SP>m. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
