PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture data reception apparatus capable of more surely receiving a macroblock including a significant portion.

SOLUTION: The moving picture data reception apparatus includes: a packet receiving unit for sequentially receiving a packet including a macroblock obtained by dividing an image frame; a significance receiving unit for receiving macroblock significance indicative of a weight imparted to the macroblock; a significance determining unit for determining specific macroblock significance of a macroblock included in a specific packet that cannot be received by the packet receiving unit but is lost, on the basis of the macroblock significance of a plurality of macroblocks received by the significance receiving unit; and a retransmission requesting unit for requesting retransmission of the specific packet when the specific macroblock significance determined by the significance determining unit exceeds a prescribed threshold.
