PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for concentrating the objective microorganism from a specimen containing a plurality of components, and to provide a method for carrying out identification of the concentrated microorganism in a short time period. SOLUTION: The method for concentrating the microorganism comprises a step of bringing a carrier in which a sugar chain for selectively binding to the microorganism is immobilized into contact with the microorganism in the specimen, and thereby binding the sugar chain to the microorganism, and a step of concentrating the carrier.
