It is intended to provide a method of selecting a thermogenesis accelerator containing a compound having a PPARdelta activating effect; drugs therefor; and drugs having antidiabetic, antiobesitic and visceral cumulative fat-reducing effects. Drugs containing a compound having an effect of activating a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor PPARdelta and having effects of accelerating nonshivering thermogenesis (nST), specifically accelerating uncoupling respiration of mitochondria in cells such as adipocytes or proton leak in intramitochondrial membrane and elevating UCP1 expression dose; and antidiabetics, antiobesitics and vesicular cumulative fat- reducing agents containing the above compound. Also, a method of selecting the above compound by assaying the PPARdelta activation effect is provided.
