A capsule-type medical device having an information acquisition section for acquiring information on the inside of a subject. The capsule-type medical device has communication electrodes arranged on the surface of the device and capable of communications for outputting the information acquired by the information acquisition section to the outside; a signal conversion section for converting an electric signal outputted based on the information, which is acquired by the information acquisition section, into an electrode drive signal and outputting it, the electrode drive signal causing a potential difference to be produced between the communication electrodes and drive the electrodes; a signal output switchover section for switching between output conditions of the electrode drive signal; and a signal switchover control section for controlling, based on conditions of the output of the electric signal, the signal output switchover section to stop an output of the electrode drive signal during a period in which the electric signal is not outputted.
