A shift register is provided to be applied to the various models of display devices by changing the output order of stages. A shift register comprises stages(ST0 to STn+1). Each of the stages has a scan direction controller, a node controller and an output unit. The scan direction controller outputs one of forward direction and reverse direction voltages according to the scan pulse of front stage and the scan pulse of rear stage. The node controller controls the signal state of the first to forth nodes according to the output signal of the scan direction controller. The output unit successively outputs two scan pulses according to the voltage of the first to forth nodes. The output unit supplies and outputs two scan pulses to the stages of front and rear.
