A traffic information receiving method of a navigation terminal and a device thereof are provided to supply the traffic information on rear time basis by periodically changing a digital multimedia video broadcast channel into a traffic information channel. A traffic information receiving method of a navigation terminal comprises: a step of receiving a digital multimedia video broadcast channel in which the traffic information is not received(S310); a step of changing into a traffic information channel from the digital multimedia video broadcast channel(S320); a step of receiving the traffic information through the traffic information channel(S330); a step of changing the traffic information channel into the digital multimedia video broadcast channel once the receipt of the traffic information is completed(S350); and a step of receiving video broadcast data through the digital multimedia video broadcast channel(S360).
