PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle-use meter unit with such the structure that a meter display part is covered by an adjustable translucent member such as a liquid crystal shutter or the like, which enables the adjustable translucent member to positively contribute to forming a meter appearance design, and allows the appearance design to change in response to a control state of the adjustable translucent member, when the meter unit is used (viewed). SOLUTION: The vehicle-use meter unit 100 is equipped with a design rendering section comprising: one or plural rendering light sources 13, 14 for lighting up a meter body 51; and the adjustable translucent member 2 covering the meter body 51 on its front side in view from a driver's seat. Then, a plurality of operation modes are set to the design rendering section, in order to bring at least corresponding transparency values of the adjustable translucent member 2 to differ from another within a range in which reading information to be indicated is not prevented, such that meter visual design configurations are made different from another when reading the meter.
