The sensor has a set of electrodes (24, 25, 26) arranged in a layer structure of a sensor element (12) i.e. flat circular disk, where the electrode (24) lies in a hollow chamber (31). Contact surfaces (27, 28, 29) assigned to the electrodes contact an electrical conductor of an electrical connection line. The sensor element has a supporting substrate layer (20) that rests on and fixedly sintered with a measuring gas side of the layer structure. A gas inlet hole (32) is provided in and axially penetrates through the substrate layer, where the gas inlet hole leads into the chamber.
