When an air conditioner is brought to a stop, the position of a vertically movable louver is controlled so that air discharged from an outlet is delivered forward and upward and flows along the surface of a front panel and so that an indoor fan and an electrostatic atomizer are controlled so as to operate for a predetermined time period. Further, when the front panel is a movable type, the position of the movable front panel is controlled so that the upper part of the movable front panel is opened and the lower part is closed.
