PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that productivity is deteriorated because it takes time for attaching and detaching seal plugs in a conventional device for bending steel pipe. SOLUTION: As for a device for bending a steel pipe and a method of bending the steel pipe using the device, first and second flange type seal plugs 22, 23 are inserted into the end parts of the steel pipe 1 to be bent. Next, the steel pipe 1 is held with a bending die 30 and a clamp 40 while a first flange part 22c of the first flange type seal plug 22 is fitted into grooves 30a, 40a, and a second flange part 23c is pressed with a shaft pushing body 50. That is, the fixing step of the respective seal plugs 22, 23 to the steel pipe 1 and the preparatory step of the bending work are performed simultaneously. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
