PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent combing in using a picture-in-picture function. SOLUTION: In the case where a reproduction start of secondary video data is instructed when primary video data are being reproduced, the secondary video data are reproduced in response to timing at which a picture in a first field of the next three-field group of the primary video data by shifting the reproduction start timing of the secondary video data by a predetermined value from the timing at which the reproduction start of the second video data is instructed.
