PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for calculating channel state information (CSI). SOLUTION: In a device and a method applied to calculate the channel state information (CSI) of a dual-carrier modulation (DCM) system, a channel equalization value is transmitted into a system, and an absolute-value computing unit computes the absolute value for each equalization value. A channel classifying unit electrically connected to the absolute-value computing unit is used to separate signals to data on two channels. An equalization-value comparing unit electrically connected to every channel is used to carry out a comparison operation. One smaller value computed is employed as CSI defined in the present invention. Afterward, this CSI can be used in a decoder for effectively enhancing the performance of dual-carrier modulation system in a multi-path fading channel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
