PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device capable of displaying an image having good display quality even when dividing a scanning electrode into a plurality of scanning electrode groups and driving them. SOLUTION: A plurality of scanning electrodes are divided into a plurality of scanning electrode groups. Scanning electrode drive circuits 43a and 43b are equipped with: sustain pulse generation circuits 50a and 50b; a plurality of ramped waveform voltage generation circuits 57a and 57b generating ramped waveform voltage to be applied to the scanning electrodes belonging to the respective scanning electrode groups; a plurality of scanning pulse generation circuits 60a and 60b generating scanning pulses applied to the scanning electrodes belonging to the respective scanning electrode groups; and connection/disconnection means 62a and 62b connecting or disconnecting reference potential of the respective scanning pulse generation circuits 60a and 60b. When applying the ramped waveform voltage to the scanning electrode, the connection/disconnection means 62a and 62b are set to a disconnection condition, and when applying the sustain pulse to the scanning electrode, the connection/disconnection means 62a and 62b are set to a connection condition.
