It is possible to provide a mobile device which can improve communication quality when the device is held without changing the dominant design of the mobile device. A mobile device (3) functions as a transmitter and a receiver in an electric field communication for transmission and reception of an information signal converted into an electric field signal via a human body (2). The mobile device (3) has an external shape of a substantially hexahedron having side faces (37) and a display surface (35) where information can be viewed. An external electrode (42) for electric field communication is provided on the display surface (35). A human body side electrode (43) for electric field communication is provided on at least one of the side faces (37).
