A position controlling apparatus of a turning unit for construction heavy equipment and a position control method of the turning unit are provided to minimize turning clearance of the upper turning member because backlash between an inner wheel gear of a pivot bearing and a pinion is precisely controlled. A position controlling apparatus of a turning unit for construction heavy equipment comprises a main frame(10) of an upper turning member(3) wherein a penetration hole(11) vertically penetrating is prepared, an outer wheel(21) which is anchored to the floor of the main frame and rotates together with the upper turning member, a pivot bearing(20) which is fastened a lower carrier(5) and consists of an inner wheel(23) including the gear teeth(23a) in the inner circumference thereof, and a pivot driving unit(30) wherein a flange unit(33) with a bolt penetration hole(33a) is prepared.
