An apparatus for processing optical information is provided to improve the recording efficiency and the reproduction efficiency of the light information by blocking the progressing of the recording reference light penetrating a recording medium in optical data recording and blocking the progressing of a reproducing reference light penetrating the recording medium in optical data reproducing. An apparatus for processing optical information comprises: a light source(110); a light splitter(120) dividing the light provided from the light source into a signal light and a reference light; an optical system dividing the reference light into a recording reference light and a reproducing reference light and recording the light information by crossing the signal light and the reference light in the recording medium and reproducing the reproduction light by making the reproducing reference light incident from the opposite direction of the incidence direction of the recording reference light; a light blocking unit being arranged in the pathway of the reproducing reference light and the recording reference light progressing through the recording medium and blocking the reproducing reference light and the recording reference light progressing through the recording medium; and an optical detector(170) detecting the reproduction light.
