An apparatus for reducing beam uniformity using a birefringent medium is provided to reduce uniformity of an incident beam by using a phase difference plate to convert a polarized light beam into a round-shaped polarization state or an elliptical polarization state. A first polarization layer(310) separates an incident beam of n to a first polarized light beam of 2n. A phase difference plate(320) converts the first polarized light beam separated from the first polarization layer into a second polarized light beam of a round-shaped polarization state or an elliptical polarization state. The second polarized light beam(330) separates a second polarized light beam of 2n into a third polarized light beam of 4n.
