A mobile communication system comprises a base station device and a mobile station device. The base station device is provided with a sequence assignment section for assigning a sequence of downlink reference signals to the downlink reference signals of respective antennas, in which the positions at which the signals are transmitted can be identified for respective cells according to a predetermined rule, and a transmission section for transmitting the downlink reference signals to the mobile station device for the respective antennas. The mobile station device is provided with a reception section for receiving the downlink reference signals from the base station device for the respective antennas, an identifying section for identifying the sequence of downlink reference signals, and a radio quality measurement section for measuring the radio quality of the cells according to the sequence of downlink reference signals identified by the identifying section.
