The method involves comparing an actual angle (alpha) between longitudinal axes (4, 5) of a towing vehicle (2) and trailer/semi-trailer (3), respectively, with a permissible angle range (6). Stabilization interference is performed for stabilizing a towing vehicle and trailer/semi-trailer combination (1), when the actual angle lies outside the permissible angle and lies outside an angle range (7) that is extended around an interference difference (8). Warnings are signaled to a driver, if the actual angle lies outside the permissible angle range and within the extended angle range. An independent claim is also included for a controller comprising a sensor.
