The method involves measuring an operational parameter e.g. temperature and rotational speed, by pressure sensors (17-19), speed sensors (20-21), angle sensor, and a CPU. A measured value is transmitted to a control device (10) that controls a main pump (4). An evaluation parameter is generated from the measured value. The evaluation parameter is compared with an event condition, and a presence of event is stored during fulfilling of the event condition by the evaluation parameter. An alarm signal is transmitted to a superior central control device (11). An independent claim is also included for a hydrostatic system comprising a hydrostatic machine.
