PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article wherein excreta is not easily stuck to the skin of a wearer and the excreta does not easily leak out. SOLUTION: The surface sheet 10 of the absorbent article comprises nonwoven fabric containing water-absorbing fibers 1 and thermoplastic fibers 5, and the water-absorbing fibers 1 are gelified by absorbing moisture in the discharged excreta and forms hydrogel 4 incorporating the excreta. It is preferable that the thermoplastic fibers are crimped fibers. It is preferable that the hydrogel 4 formed by absorbing the moisture is held to the surface sheet 10 by an anchor effect by the crimp of the crimped fibers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
