<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate, when carrying out slag fuming for a molten metal discharged from a smelting furnace for zinc or lead smelting, slag and pig lead from the molten metal discharged from the smelting furnace without fail for stably obtaining low-impurity grade of slag after slag fuming and to stably supply the slag reduced in content of lead and arsenic into a slag fuming furnace. <P>SOLUTION: The molten metal discharged from a smelting furnace 1 is received in a ladle 2 having a bottom drain hole in the bottom. The ladle 2 containing the molten metal is allowed to stand for≥2 min to allow the pig lead to settle down in the bottom of the ladle. The accumulated pig lead is drawn out through the bottom hole and recovered.
