PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a period of time required for a service or frequency search after a power source is turned on again, regardless of whether a mobile communication terminal including a positioning means moves or not after powering-off. SOLUTION: The mobile communication terminal makes a search, after being powered on again, by first reading data about the kind and frequency of a mobile communication service before powering-off from a memory (S1, S2). If the search is not made successful within a predetermined time T1 (S4: "YES"), positioning is performed and if the search is made successful within a predetermined time T2 (S6: "YES"), data about the kind and frequency of a mobile communication service corresponding to its position information are read from the memory (S8). If it is possible for its position to be included within a service range (S9: "YES"), the search is made while designating the data, read out in S8, about the kind and frequency of the mobile communication service (S10).
