AIR DIFFUSER AND AERATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air diffuser and an aeration method which can restrain occurrence of unevenness of bubbles discharged from a tubular while controlling an increase in the amount of power used.

SOLUTION: The air diffuser is used to aerate a liquid stored in a vessel and has a tubular body through which the to-be-stored liquid flows into the vessel and which is arranged in the vessel so that the passage for the liquid is extended in a vertical direction. The liquid is introduced from the upper end of the tubular body; bubbles are produced in the liquid introduced; and the liquid containing bubbles is discharged from the lower end of the tubular body toward the bottom surface of the vessel. The tubular body has, in its inside wall surface, linear protrusions or grooves extended in a direction oblique to the flowing direction of the liquid, and the area where the protrusions or grooves are formed is in the downstream of the passage for the liquid with respect to the site at which bubbles are produced.
