The machine has a coating head (A) provided for image moderate coating of a sheet with glue. A cold foil unit (B) is arranged downstream of the coating head transfers an imaging layer from a transfer film (9) to the sheet. An inline measuring system (7) is arranged between the coating head and the cold foil unit, and is aligned with respect to the sheet. The measuring system is formed as a device for detecting adhesive coating, where opacity of an adhesive layer is measured by the measuring system. An independent claim is also included for a method for transferring an imaging layer from a transfer film to a sheet.
