PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic clutch 1 having compact construction for preventing an increase in idling torque and the occurrence of abnormal sounds. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic clutch 1 comprises a worm wheel 2 driven by a drive motor, an armature 3 rotating in association with the worm wheel 2, a rotor 4 coaxially rotatable with the armature 3, an electromagnetic coil 5 for making the rotor 4 generate magnetic force and causing the rotor 4 and the armature 3 to be moved and attracted to each other along the rotation axis by the magnetic force, and an elastic member 6 placed between the rotor 4 and the armature 3, having one side fixed to either the rotor 4 or the armature 3 and the other side in sliding contact with the other, and urging the rotor 4 and the armature 3 to be moved apart from each other.
