The gasket has a layer (1) provided with a passage (2) receiving an elastically deformable profile body (3) e.g. open or closed ring, that is formed as a circular profile wire. The profile body exhibits different material thicknesses when seen in a radial direction and stays in effective contact with supporting bodies e.g. U-shaped border (6) and spacer rings. The supporting bodies are connected with the layer. The profile body is partially enclosed in a region of its two front surfaces by the spacer rings, and the border encloses the profile body.
