An air-conditioning system and a method of controlling the air-conditioning system are provided to circulate a refrigerant to a heating unit installed in a heating space to collect condensation heat of the refrigerant for heating. An air-conditioning system includes a cooling unit(12), a heating unit(14), an outdoor unit(16) and a refrigerant control unit(18). The cooling unit includes an evaporator(24) and cools a cooling space. The heating unit includes a first condenser(30) and heats a heating space using condensation heat. The outdoor unit includes a second condenser(40). The refrigerant control unit controls refrigerant circulation in the cooling unit and the outdoor unit and refrigerant circulation in the cooling unit and the heating unit to be selectively performed.
