The device (1) has a radial separating cut (2) for dividing a seal ring into individual ring segments (3). An impact tolerance of the cut is a distance between separation surfaces (4) produced by the cut when the device is arranged around the article to be sealed, in assembled condition or arranged around a groove. An outer diameter of the groove corresponds to outer diameter of the article. Total impact tolerance of sealing device is closed or disappeared and/or takes a value of 0, in operating condition of the device that is made of ceramic material or coal.
