PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor element capable of improving the mechanical strength and of suppressing the increase of a leak current; and a production method thereof. SOLUTION: This solid electrolytic capacitor element is produced by this production method thereof comprising: forming a molded article by compression-molding a valve action metal powder in which an anode lead is implanted; and forming a sintered body by sintering the molded article, wherein the molded article comprises: a layer produced by compression-molding a first valve action metal powder in which a binder is blended and an anode lead is implanted; and a layer produced by compression-molding a layer of a second valve action metal powder containing no binder.
