The dryer (1) has a fire extinguishing device including a control device (5), infrared sensor (8), negative temperature coefficient resistor (9), smoke sensor (10), extinguishing media supply device (11), extinguishing media (12) e.g. fluid, gas or powder, chemical propellant (13), spray nozzle (14), valve (15) and a process air blower (16). The sensors detect a fire arising in a clothes drum (2). The supply device has a clothes refreshment device (22) that sprays the media provided as a refresh liquid into the drum, during disconnecting the extinguishing device. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a clothes dryer. |
