The method involves determining respective vibration on hand by a vibration dependent characteristic and the respective reference speed value (n-s) of the motor (M) is corrected by a control signal through its increase or decrease in an actual speed value (n-i). The control signal corresponds to the determined characteristics. A characteristic specified threshold is fallen short of a specified vibration strength lying particularly at zero. An independent claim is included for a device for suppressing or reducing one or more disturbing vibrations, particularly of resonance vibrations of equipment provided with an engine.
