A adaptor (1) permitting the temporary attachment of a perimeter safety barrier to a timber frame building, comprising, in a first embodiment, a back plate (2) having a rear, planar surface (3) adapted to abut a planar face (4, figure 4) of a timber component (5, figure 5) of a timber frame building (6, figure 5), and provided with a plurality of through holes (7) for the passage of a plurality of screws (20, figure 5) by which the back plate (2) and hence the adaptor (1) may be securely affixed to the face of the timber component (5, figure 5), and also provided with a plurality of externally threaded studs (9) non-rotatably affixed to the back plate (2) and projecting away from a front surface (10) of the back plate (2), on which studs a mounting plate (21, figure 4) may be fitted. In the second embodiment, fitting of a mounting plate (21, figure 4) is into upwardly open channel (14) and slot (27). In a third embodiment, a stub shaft (23B) projects from the back plate (21B) out of which stub shaft a tube (24) for supporting barrier (26) may be fitted. In a fourth embodiment, the adaptor (1 C) is aperture to receive a mounting plate (21).
