A remote controller having a mouse function for a chatting type TV and a control method thereof are provided to automatically inactivate a mouse function because the mouse function is not used in a mouse function activate state, thereby minimizing battery consumption. A display unit(145) is equipped in an upper part of a front surface. A controller is associated with a display driving unit(144). The controller controls a driving function of the display unit through the association. A wireless communication unit(150) converts wireless data delivered from the controller into a wireless signal. The wireless signal is transmitted to a TV set or a wireless communication unit of a settop box. A channel view button provides an operation interface.
