A descending life line is provided to minimize the danger of abrasion or breakage even in case of the long-termed use of a brake drum and a brake pad and to allow it to be produced massively. A descending life line comprises a body housing(100) which is provided with a supporting plate(110) with the punched connection hole(111) at the upper one part and a brake drum(120) having the friction surface at the side one part; a lower plate(200) which covers the lower part of the body housing, is provided with a guide roller(210), is provided with the center shaft and the gear shaft at the upper surface, and is provided with a screw part at the end part of the center shaft; a drive part which is pivotally inserted into the center shaft of the lower plate and is provided with a first big gear at the one part of the winding member having the winding groove for winding a rope; a connection gear part which is pivotally inserted into the gear shaft of the lower plate, is provided with a second big gear formed integrally at the upper surface of the first small gear engaged with the first big gear, and is provided with a velocity reducing winding part formed integrally; a second small gear which engages with the second big gear of the connection gear part, is provided with the engagement part formed integrally at the upper surface and is pivotally inserted into the center shaft of the lower plate; and a brake pad which is provided with an engagement groove engaged at the engagement part of the second small gear formed at the center. The width of the engagement groove is wider than that of the engagement part.
