A variable swash plate type compressor is provided to simplify the operation mechanism of a swash plate and a bush by reducing the kind and number of parts of the swash plate. A variable swash plate type compressor includes a cylinder block, front and rear housings, a driving shaft(130), a plurality of pistons, a bush(120), and a swash plate(110). The cylinder block has a plurality of cylinder bores inside. The front housing is mounted in front of the cylinder block and has a crank chamber formed inside. The rear housing is mounted behind the cylinder block and has suction and discharge chambers inside. Pistons are installed in the cylinder bores and carry out reciprocation motion in association with the rotation motion of the swash plate. The bush is coupled with the driving shaft by a hinge(140) in the crank chamber, and formed with a bearing groove(160). The swash plate is coupled on the driving shaft so that the inclination angle of the swash plate varies according to the pressure change in the crank chamber. The swash plate has a bearing(150), which moves along the bearing groove of the bush.
